The Brief?
In the midst of the first UK lockdown, I set out to protect my own mental health by drawing daily while paying tribute to those protecting all of us.
Over 45 days, I created 45 hand-drawn pastel portraits of frontline workers who I never met during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each portrait was a thank you many accompanied by the hero’s own words. The works were later compiled into a limited edition 80-page hardback book, published in 2021.
The Results:
Original artworks gifted to each featured hero.
Self-published book: 45 Frontline Heroes (2021)
Radio coverage in the UK + international press in the MENA region and Podcast.
Celebrated as a heartfelt artistic response to a global crisis.
Entirely hand-drawn and no AI tools used.
I now also take on commissioned work www.artbylammy.com
